The 2007 Calendar year was very special for the Dallas chapter of the Network of Indian Professionals (“NetIP Dallas”).  There were many memorable moments and events, from the thrill of the Masti cultural show to the first ever NetIP event at the Crowe Collection of Asian Art!

The 2007 NetIP Dallas board was comprised of talented individuals who put in the extra effort to make every event a unique experience.  But, like all good things, this too is coming to an end.  Due to work and personal commitments, most of the current officers will not be returning in 2008.  This is a huge opportunity for new leaders like you to step up, learn the ropes, and carry the torch!  We have veteran leadership in place for guidance and support, and welcome you to join and lead one of the most prestigious national organizations for South Asian professionals.

As an added bonus, NetIP Dallas has won the bid to host the 2008 Officer Leadership Council (OLC).  This is an exclusive event open only to current and active NetIP officers.  As a NetIP Dallas board member, you will have the opportunity to attend and network with fellow officers from across North America, right here in Big D!

So, while 2007 was special, 2008 can be even better!  And it ALL starts with YOU.  Check out the position descriptions below, choose the one that fits you, submit a nomination, and come out to the elections to get on Board!

Elections are on Friday, December 7th at Martini Ranch in Dallas.  Deadline for submission of nominations for the position of your choice is NOON on December 7th.  Please submit all nominations to netipdallas@gmail.com.  We look forward to meeting you…

Ronnie Basu

"Creating the Living Bridge"

NATIONAL HIV/AIDS INITIATIVE

This year, Network of Indian Professionals (NetIP) is partnering with the William J. Clinton Foundation to assist in the prevention and treatment of the world's largest epidemic, HIV/AIDS. India has the highest number of people living with HIV of any country in the world. Of those, an estimated 450,000-500,000 people are in immediate need of treatment, but today, just 75,000 are receiving medicines they need to survive (Clinton Foundation, Asia 2006). In addition, 40 million people around the world are living with HIV/AIDS. The problem is especially acute in the developing world, where access to antiretroviral drugs is limited. Given the enormous size and scope of this problem, NetIP is committed to leverage its large membership base and philanthropic spirit to make a meaningful contribution to an organization that has demonstrated progress in tackling the problem. Our goal is to inspire our community by contributing to the social fabric of our communities at home, and simultaneously making a positive impact to our sister community-India.

Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative

The initiative aims to assist countries in implementing large-scale, integrated, care, treatment and prevention programs that will turn the tide on the epidemic. It partners with countries in Africa, the Caribbean and Asia, including India, to develop operational business plans to scale-up care and treatment.

The Clinton HIV/AIDS model works to:

1)      Lower the costs associated with treatment

2)      Partner with governments to implement large-scale treatment and prevention programs

3)      Expand access to treatment in rural areas

4)      Make treatment universally accessible to all children

NetIP-NA and its chapters seeks to consolidate the financial resources from each chapter to make a single donation to the William J. Clinton Foundation. NetIP-NA has inspired a sense of shared identity between all chapters that will serve as a powerful leverage source to achieve a common objective.  As a result, with each chapter's fundraising effort and contribution, NetIP's goal is to raise $20,000 to contribute to the Clinton Foundation.
